LORETTO, Pa. (Feb. 26, 2026) – The Stonehill women's basketball team went on the road and earned a 58-55 victory over Saint Francis at DeGol Arena Thursday evening.
The win improves Stonehill's record to 11-16 overall (7-9 NEC), while the Red Flash falls to 2-25 (2-14 NEC).
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS:
- Brooke Paquette surpassed 1,000 points in her career in the first quarter. Paquette becomes the 36th Stonehill women's basketball player to reach that milestone and first to score all of those points as a Division I player.
- Paquette finished with 22 points, tying her season-high, and hit all nine of her free-throw attempts. Paquette now has 1,015 points in her career, tied with Bethany Tighe '09 for 35th most in team history.
- Julia Webster added 10 points and nine rebounds, while Ella Pelletier scored seven points and came down with seven rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Following the first media timeout with the Skyhawks leading, 6-4, Saint Francis responded with consecutive baskets to go up, 8-6, but Paquette drained a three-pointer from the corner to put Stonehill back on top. With 15 seconds left in the quarter,
Breana Delaney sent a pass to Paquette, who buried another triple, giving her more than 1,000 points in her career with the Skyhawks.
In the second, Stonehill upped its advantage on the scoreboard to 21-14 early in the frame and held a 32-25 lead heading into the break. Paquette finished the half with 14 points, hitting 3-of-4 three-point attempts.
As the game moved to quarter three, the Skyhawks maintained a two-possession lead for much of the frame and were on top, 36-32, with 4:34 remaining in the stanza. With time winding down in the quarter, Delaney grabbed an offensive rebound and put it back to make it a 42-39 game in favor of Stonehill.
After the Red Flash took a 45-44 lead in the fourth, the teams stayed with in a basket until Paquette connected on two free throws to give Stonehill a 53-49 edge with 4:59 to play. With the game tied, 55-55,
Ella Pelletier collected an offensive rebound and finished with a layup, as Stonehill went back in front, 57-55.
The Skyhawks outrebounded the Red Flash, 41-24, and were 18-of-21 (.857) from the foul line.
