Women’s Tennis Suffers 5-2 Setback at Wagner

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (March 13, 2026) – The Stonehill College women's tennis team fell 5-2 to NEC opponent Wagner College Friday night. With the loss, the Skyhawks dropped to 2-9 overall and 2-2 in conference play, while the Seahawks improved to 5-5 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

Stonehill opened the match by securing the doubles point. After Wagner's Samantha Bentsianov and Liepa Sataite defeated Anneliese Beltran and Iliana deArmas 6-1 at No. 3 doubles, the Skyhawks responded with wins on the top two courts. Julie Holte and Madison Warren defeated Dariana Vera and Victoria Madail 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, while Arya Chabria and Lilah Shallcross clinched the point with a 7-6 (7-5) tiebreak victory over Alexia Estrada and Claudia Lindsey at No. 2.

Wagner took control in singles play with three consecutive wins over Beltran, Chabria, and Warren to build a 3-1 advantage. Holte halted the Seahawks' momentum with a three-set victory at No. 1 singles, defeating Madail 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 to bring Stonehill within one point at 3-2.

However, Wagner secured the match with back-to-back wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles against Camila Zuluaga Rodriguez and deArmas to seal the 5-2 victory.
