STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (March 28, 2026) – The Stonehill College men's tennis team earned a 4-3 victory over NEC opponent Wagner College Saturday night at the CSI Tennis Courts. With the win, the Skyhawks improved to 4-9 overall and 1-3 in conference play, while the Seahawks dropped to 8-7 overall and 2-1 in league action.
After
Jacob Borch-Nielsen and
Nicolas Arredondo fell 6-4 to Lukas Escher and Eddie Schmidt on the No. 1 doubles court, Stonehill rallied to secure the doubles point.
Guillermo Bennaton and
Javier Gutierrez defeated Sebastian Dobson and Tom Lamers 6-3 at No. 2 doubles, followed by
Hector Cebrian and
Alessandro Munoz overcoming Pablo Rodriguez Gonzalez and Kunsh Moolchandani 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.
Wagner jumped out to a 2-1 lead in singles, taking the first two matches as Schmidt and Escher won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Stonehill answered as
Benjamin Beaudry defeated Lamers 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. Though Borch-Nielsen fell in three sets to Rodriguez Gonzalez at No. 4, the Skyhawks closed out the match with consecutive singles victories from Munoz and Arredondo at No. 5 and No. 6, clinching a 4-3 overall win and marking their first conference triumph of the season.
