EASTON, Pa. (March 29, 2026) – The Stonehill College men's tennis team earned a decisive 6-1 victory over non-conference opponent Lafayette College Sunday afternoon, improving to 5-9 on the season while handing the Leopards a 3-6 mark.
Stonehill secured the doubles point by winning two of three matchups.
Jacob Borch-Nielsen and
Nicolas Arredondo led the way with a 6-1 win over Nick McKenzie and Tyler Mahaffey at No. 1 doubles, followed by
Guillermo Bennaton and
Javier Gutierrez, who posted a 6-2 victory against Sam Gelber and Jake Magnusson in the No. 2 slot. Lafayette's lone doubles win came at No. 3, where Derrien Lerner and Nikolas Martirossian defeated
Hector Cebrian and
Alessandro Munoz, 6-3.
In singles play, the Skyhawks dominated, claiming five of six matches. Bennaton and Arredondo each completed perfect days, earning wins at No. 1 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Bennaton topped Lerner in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, while Arredondo rallied for a three-set victory over Gelber, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5.
Cebrian added a commanding 6-1, 6-1 win over McKenzie at No. 2 singles, and
Benjamin Beaudry earned his team-leading 11th victory of the season with a 6-3, 6-4 decision against John Dickens at No. 3. Munoz closed out the scoring for Stonehill with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Martirossian at No. 5.
Magnusson accounted for Lafayette's only point, defeating Borch-Nielsen in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 4 singles, as Stonehill sealed the 6-1 team win.
