Men’s Tennis Takes Down Assumption, 5-2, for Third Straight Victory

EASTON, Mass. (Aprill 9, 2026) – The Stonehill College men's tennis team defeated non-conference opponent Assumption University, 5-2, at the Charles Watt Tennis Courts on Thursday afternoon. With the win, the Skyhawks improved to 6-9 overall, while the Greyhounds fell to 8-7 on the season.

Stonehill secured the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. Assumption opened play with a 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles over the pairing of Jacob Borch-Nielsen and Nicolas Arredondo. The Skyhawks responded with back-to-back wins, as the duos of Guillermo Bennaton and Javier Gutierrez, along with Hector Cebrian and Alessandro Munoz, earned victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, respectively, to claim the point.

Bennaton and Gutierrez posted a 6-3 win over Luca Figueiredo and Luigi Bassani at No. 2, before Cebrian and Munoz secured the doubles point with a 6-3 decision against Alec Pijnacker and Herman Aguirre at No. 3.

In singles play, Stonehill clinched the overall match by winning four of six contests. After the teams split the first four matches, the Skyhawks closed strong by taking the final two.

Bennaton led the way with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Aguirre to complete a double victory on the day. Following wins by Assumption's Michele Elia and Pijnacker over Borch-Nielsen and Cebrian, respectively, Benjamin Beaudry earned a key three-set victory at No. 3 singles, defeating Figueiredo, 6-0, 2-6, 6-3.

Munoz and Arredondo sealed the win for Stonehill with victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Munoz defeated Jakob Bordt, 6-4, 6-2, while Arredondo capped the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Kristoffer Podenphant.
