NEWPORT, R.I. (March 8, 2026) – The Stonehill College women's tennis team fell 6-1 to non-conference opponent Rhode Island Sunday night at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island. With the loss, the Skyhawks dropped to 2-7 overall, while the Rams improved to 7-4 this season.

Julie Holte and
Madison Warren fell 6-3 to Nikki Fernando and Kajsa Helgesen at No. 1 doubles, while senior
Anneliese Beltran and first-year
Iliana deArmas dropped a 6-3 decision to Miruna Scarlat and Stephanie Hylton at No. 3.
Rhode Island secured the team victory by winning five of the six singles matches. Sophomore
Lilah Shallcross earned Stonehill's lone point of the match at No. 3 singles, rallying to defeat Grace Darcy in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Holte and deArmas each pushed their opponents but came up short in their singles contests. Holte fell to Fernando 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while deArmas battled Scarlat at No. 6 before dropping a tight 6-4, 7-6 decision.
