TEANECK, N.J. (April 10, 2026) – The Stonehill College baseball team dropped its series opener to NEC rival FDU, 14-9, on Friday afternoon at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex. With the result, the Skyhawks fell to 12-16 overall and 10-3 in conference play, while the Knights improved to 20-11 overall and 14-2 in league action.
Highlights
- Freshman Kacin Robinson powered the Skyhawks' offense, driving in four runs while going 2-for-5 with a run scored, a stolen base, and a three-run home run.
- Junior Jamison Howland stayed hot, recording his fifth multi-hit game in the last six contests, finishing 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, and an RBI.
- Junior Ryan LeClair extended his team-best on-base streak to 23 games, reaching via a walk and his team-leading seventh double of the season.
- Graduate student Sam Parks pushed his on-base streak to 22 games, while junior Nathan Kearney tallied his seventh multi-hit game of the season, going 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and two RBI.
- Senior Jimmy Gilleran made the start, striking out four over 4.0 innings while allowing four earned runs on six hits and a walk.
- Sophomore Hunter Bell turned in 3.0 strong innings of relief, allowing just one run on two hits and two walks while striking out two.
How It Happened
Stonehill stormed out to an early seven-run lead over FDU. Kearney opened the scoring in the first with an RBI double off the right field wall, plating LeClair. The Skyhawks then erupted for six runs in the third, highlighted by an RBI single from Howland, a three-run home run by Robinson, a sacrifice fly from junior
Cam Morrison, and an RBI double by LeClair to build a commanding 7-0 advantage.
FDU quickly answered with a five-run bottom of the third to cut the deficit to 7-5, and the two teams traded runs in the fourth to make it 8-6 heading into the fifth.
After a scoreless top of the fifth, Bell entered in relief and provided stability, tossing three innings while allowing just one run. Meanwhile, Stonehill added to its lead in the sixth when senior
Michael Rickert doubled and later scored on an RBI single from Kearney, pushing the advantage to 9-6.
Holding a three-run lead into the eighth, the Skyhawks were unable to contain the Knights' rally, as FDU plated eight runs on seven hits in the inning to take a 14-9 lead.
Stonehill was unable to respond in the ninth, as the Knights completed the comeback and secured the 14-9 victory.
