Women’s Lacrosse Tops New Haven, 21-7, on Senior Day

EASTON, Mass. (April 11, 2026) – The Stonehill women's lacrosse team won its sixth-straight NEC game, as the Skyhawks collected a 21-7 victory over New Haven on Senior Day at W.B. Mason Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The win moves Stonehill to 9-6 overall (6-1 NEC), while the Chargers slip to 3-9 (2-5 NEC).

STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Natalie Coutu and Grace Murphy both scored five goals and added three assists for eight-point efforts. Coutu matched her career-high with those eight points.
     
  • Murphy now leads the Skyhawks with 51 goals on the season.
     
  • Sophia Gouveia tallied four goals and had four draw controls.
     
  • Maia Parker paced the team with a career-high seven draw controls.
     
  • Ellison O'Shea had a career-best five ground balls, while Nina Tremonte made seven saves to earn the victory.


HOW IT HAPPENED:
Grace Murphy opened the scoring only 18 seconds into the contest to give the Skyhawks an early 1-0 lead at 14:42. After New Haven went up, 2-1, Stonehill went on a 3-0 run with tallies by Natalie Coutu (7:36 and 6:35) and Sophia Gouveia (6:56) to go back on top, 4-2. Coutu added two more goals at 3:42 and 2:22, before Murphy closed the quarter with a score at 1:33, giving the Skyhawks a 7-3 lead through the first 15 minutes of action.

In the second, the Skyhawks netted four in a row with goals from Meaghan Fealy (6:44) and 3:56), Gouveia (4:38) and Murphy again at 1:32, with Stonehill carrying a 11-5 advantage into the break.

Stonehill stretched its lead to 13-5 in the third with shots from Val Beigel (10:45) and Coutu (6:50) finding the back of the net. The Chargers cut the deficit to 13-7, but the Skyhawks closed the game with a 8-0 scoring run. Emily LaPia (3:58) and Murphy (0:47) capped the scoring in the third quarter. In the fourth frame, Murphy (11:44), LaPia (8:36), Gouveia (6:52 and 5:58), Gabriella Parisi (2:20) and Julia Kogan (0:01) helped Stonehill put the game out of reach.

UP NEXT:
Stonehill (9-6, 6-1 NEC) will remain at home to take on LIU (8-5, 5-1 NEC) on Saturday, April 18 at 12 p.m.
