Men’s Tennis Extends Win Streak to Five with 4-1 Victory Over Merrimack

EASTON, Mass. (April 14, 2026) – The Stonehill College men's tennis team extended its winning streak to five matches with a 4-1 victory over non-conference opponent Merrimack College in its regular season finale on Tuesday afternoon at the Charles Watt Tennis Courts. With the win, the Skyhawks improved to 8-9 overall, while the Warriors fell to 3-14 on the season.

Stonehill secured the doubles point with victories on the top two courts. Jacob Borch-Nielsen and Nicolas Arredondo opened the match with a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles over Ludolph Wiggett and Michael Schut. Guillermo Bennaton and Javier Gutierrez followed with another 6-1 triumph at No. 2 doubles to clinch the opening point for the Skyhawks.

In singles play, Stonehill won three of the first four completed matches to seal the team victory. Bennaton earned his second win of the day with a 6-4, 6-1 decision over Tom Van Nooten at No. 1 singles. Hector Cebrian then pushed the Skyhawks' lead to 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Wiggett at No. 2.

After Borch-Nielsen was edged at No. 4 singles by Björn Hedegaard-Friis in a 7-6, 6-3 result, Alessandro Munoz responded by clinching the match with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 5 over Trey Pleasant. The win marked Munoz's sixth consecutive singles victory.
