Baseball Splits Series Opening Doubleheader with NEC Rival Wagner

EASTON, Mass. (April 18, 2026) – The Stonehill College baseball team split its NEC doubleheader with Wagner College on Saturday afternoon at Lou Gorman Field. The Skyhawks took game one, 5-3, before the Seahawks responded with a 12-5 victory in game two.

GAME ONE: Stonehill 5 (14-18, 12-4 NEC), Wagner 3 (14-19, 12-7 NEC)
How It Happened
Stonehill and Wagner were locked in a pitcher's duel early in game one, as Jimmy Gilleran and Colin Trizuto held both lineups hitless through the first three and a half innings.

The Skyhawks broke through in the fifth when Kacin Robinson led off with a double and later scored on an RBI single from Cam Morrison to give Stonehill a 1-0 lead.

Gilleran was dominant on the mound, carrying a no-hitter into the seventh before a fielding miscue and an RBI double by Matt Sutera tied the game at one.

Stonehill answered immediately in the bottom half, erupting for four runs. Ryan LeClair delivered a two-run single with the bases loaded, and a wild pitch added another run to extend the lead to 5-1.

Wagner pushed across two runs in the eighth, but Alex Cook shut the door late to secure the 5-3 win for the Skyhawks in game one.

Inside the Box & Notes
  • Will Newton and Robinson led the Skyhawks at the plate, each recording multi-hit performances—Newton's third and Robinson's seventh of the season.

  • Nathan Kearney and Michael Rickert pushed their on-base streaks to 24 and 20 games, respectively.

GAME TWO: Wagner 12 (15-19, 13-7 NEC), Stonehill 5 (14-19, 12-5 NEC)
How It Happened
Wagner capitalized early in game two, taking advantage of a pair of first-inning errors to jump out to a 2-0 lead on a two-run single from Dylan Immel. Stonehill answered quickly in the bottom half, as Kearney lined an RBI single to right to score LeClair and cut the deficit in half.

Stonehill took its first lead in the third, plating two runs. Rickert evened the score with a sacrifice fly, and moments later, Kearney reached on an infield single while a throwing error allowed Sam Parks to score, giving the Skyhawks a 3-2 edge.

Wagner responded immediately, tying the game in the fourth before reclaiming the lead in the fifth. The Seahawks added another run in the sixth and broke the game open with a five-run seventh inning to build a commanding advantage.

The Skyhawks pushed across two runs in the seventh, but the deficit proved too large to overcome as Wagner secured the 12-5 win in game two.
