WARWICK, R.I. (April 7, 2026) - The Stonehill College women's tennis team earned a decisive 4-1 victory over non-conference opponent Providence College on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Skyhawks improved to 4-9 overall, while the Friars dropped to 4-11.
Stonehill claimed the doubles point with strong performances at the top two positions.
Julie Holte and
Madison Warren set the tone at No. 1 doubles with a dominant 6-0 win over Allison Root and Flora Eidson. At No. 2, the tandem of
Arya Chabria and
Lilah Shallcross secured the point with a 6-4 victory against Camila Barrera and Sophie Ahlberg.
At No. 3 doubles,
Anneliese Beltran and
Iliana deArmas looked to complete the sweep, but Providence's Erika Beltran and Audrey Magnusen earned a 6-2 win.
In singles, Stonehill extended its lead with key victories at No. 2 and No. 3. Warren posted a straight-set win over Root, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 2, while Shallcross battled to a three-set victory at No. 3, defeating Eidson 6-1, 2-6, 10-6.
Providence picked up its lone point at No. 4 singles, where Ahlberg defeated Chabria, 6-3, 6-3. However, the Skyhawks maintained control, and deArmas clinched the match at No. 6 with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Magnusen. Matches at No. 1 and No. 5 singles went unfinished.
The victory marks Stonehill's first win over a Big East opponent in program history.
