EASTON, Mass. (April 8, 2026) – The Stonehill softball team came up short in a rare midweek doubleheader against NEC foe Central Connecticut State on Wednesday afternoon.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
- Freshman shortstop Juli Murillo went 2-for-4 at the plate in game two, while making some dazzling plays in the field to keep the Skyhawks in the ballgame.
- Junior Harper Sullivan wen 2-for-6 with a homerun and two RBI on the day. It was her first homerun on the season.'
- Sophomore Sarah Taylor went 2-for-4 with a run scored from the middle of the batting order in game two.
- Freshman Jenny Olson went 2-for-2 from the bottom of the Skyhawks lineup beating out a pair of infield singles.
GAME 2: CCSU 5, STONEHILL 3
Stonehill wasted no time getting on the board in the bottom of the first inning. Freshman
Juli Murillo set the tone by crossing the plate on a fielder's choice by junior
Harper Sullivan. Moments later, junior
Haleigh Reed widened the gap with an RBI single up the middle that drove in sophomore
Sarah Taylor, giving the Skyhawks a 2–0 lead right out of the gate.
The Blue Devils clawed their way back into the game with, cutting the deficit in half with solo homerun in the top of the third. But the Skyhawks got that run right back when freshman
Jade Sanders drove in pinch runner, freshman
Luka Bornhorst in the bottom of the third.
Momentum shifted over to the Blue Devils as they began to methodically chipped into the lead scoring once in the fourth and fifth to tie the game. Stonehill starter
Alexa Hospodar kept the came in check, until CCSU managed to plate two runs in the top of the sixth.
GAME 1: CCSU 10, STONEHILL 1
The Blue Devils set the tone early in the first inning. After a walk and a Stonehill throwing error put runners on, CCSU's Ava Cino launched a three-run home run to left field, giving the visitors an immediate 3-0 cushion. CCSU expanded on their lead pushing across five more runs in the top of the second.
Stonehill found a bright spot in home half of the second. Junior
Harper Sullivan blasted solo shot over the outfield fence to put the Skyhawks on board. But they were unable to build on that momentum as CCSU starter Liz Hamilton kept the Skyhawk bats at bay.
