Thompson Joins Women's Basketball Staff as Assistant Coach

EASTON, Mass. (June 10, 2026) – Stonehill College women's basketball head coach Trisha Brown has announced the hiring of former Taniyah Thompson as an assistant coach prior to the 2026-27 season.

"We are thrilled to have Taniyah Thompson join the Stonehill women's basketball family," Brown said. "Having experienced great success as an elite Division I player, Taniyah knows exactly what it takes to mentally and physically prepare our student-athletes to compete at this level. She will also be a great resource for those that want to continue their basketball journey after college, as she has competed internationally. Her energy, passion for the game and player development will have a phenomenal impact on our program."

Thompson spent the 2025-26 campaign as a graduate assistant at Northeastern, assisting with on-court player development, leading film sessions and working on scouting reports and game preparation.

Prior to her time at Northeastern, Thompson played professionally for Gallardo SK in Turkey, averaging 17.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game in 2024.

A candidate for a master's degree in sports leadership at Northeastern, Thompson earned her bachelor's degree in communications from Penn State in 2023. During her time as a Division I student-athlete, Thompson competed for East Carolina, Penn State and Georgia from 2019-24. A Greater New Haven Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, Thompson was named the AAC Most Improved Player at East Carolina in 2022, while also garnering All-AAC first team accolades the same season. Thompson was also tabbed to the All-AAC freshman team in 2020.
