EASTON, Mass. (Aug. 20, 2026) – Freshman
Killian Doherty registered his first collegiate career goal and first career assist to propel the Stonehill men's soccer team to a 3-2 victory over URI to open the season on Thursday afternoon.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
- Freshman Killian Doherty scored the game winner in the 68th minute for his first goal of his career and also added his first collegiate career assist on the Skyhawks opening goal.
- Senior Chris Hines scored 25 seconds into the 2026 season for his first goal of the game.
- Freshman Maciej Rusiecki recorded his first collegiate goal two minutes into the second half on freshman Mayden Xhokaxhiu first assist.
- It was the first win in for the Skyhawks in their last five meetings against the Rams.

The Skyhawks wasted little time as 25 seconds into the 2026 season they took a quick 1-0 lead. Freshman

URI answered and scored the equalizer 12 minutes later and that's where we stood for the remainder of the first half. It didn't stay tied for long as two minutes into the second half, Stonehill regained the lead on
Maciej Rusiecki's first goal from fellow freshman
Hayden Xhokaxhiu.
After the Rams came back and tied the score once again, the Skyhawks were resilient. Battling for the loose ball inside the six yard box, Doherty put the game-winner in the back of the net off a pass from
Andrew Bilbie.
