EASTON, Mass. (Aug. 23, 2026) – Sophomore goalkeeper
Felix van der Hagen earned his first shutout of the season as the Stonehill men's soccer team defeated Northeastern, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
- Freshman Killian Doherty registered his second collegiate career goal with three seconds left in the first half.
- Sophomore Griffith Brubaker collected his first assist of the season.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Felix van der Hagen picked up the shutout with seven saves in net.
- With wins over URI and Northeastern, this is the best start to a season since Stonehill moved to Division I.
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was tight contest early with time of possession evenly, split. It appeared as though we were going to go into the halftime break all square at zero, but freshman
Killian Doherty had other ideas.
Sophomore
Griffith Brubaker found Doherty in front of the net with three seconds remaining in the first half to give the Skyhawks the one goal advantage.
Despite the Huskies 11-2 advantage on corner kicks, Northeastern was unable to convert any of those opportunities into goals as Stonehill hung on for the win.
