PROVIDENCE, R.I. (August 27, 2026) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to non-conference opponent Providence College on the road Thursday night. With the result, the Skyhawks fell to 0-2-2 overall, while the Friars improved to 2-0-3 on the season.

- Freshman Sadie O'Toole, junior Meghan Dowd, and senior Lindsey Brown went the distance for the Skyhawks, playing all 90 minutes.
How it Happened
Despite being outshot 9-2 over the opening 45 minutes, Stonehill held firm defensively, keeping Providence off the scoreboard while being unable to generate consistent scoring pressure of its own as the teams played to a scoreless draw at halftime.
Coming out of the break, the Friars immediately applied pressure, earning a corner kick, generating a point-blank scoring chance that was blocked away by the Skyhawks' backline, and earning a free kick from a dangerous position within the opening four minutes of the second half. Stonehill's defensive unit continued to stand tall, protecting its cage and keeping Providence off the board.
After flipping the field in the 62nd minute, the Skyhawks began to generate momentum in the attacking third. Junior
Martha Lord connected with Foley, who found MacLellan alone in front of the cage. MacLellan buried the opportunity for her first collegiate goal, giving Stonehill a 1-0 lead at the 61:01 mark.
Just over five minutes later, Providence leveled the score at 1-1 when Jocy Koffi converted her second goal of the season on a penalty kick awarded following a handball inside the Skyhawks' 18-yard box.
The Friars would take the lead for good in the 83rd minute when Singe Tingager chipped a shot over an outstretched Hamel at the 82:26 mark for her second career goal. Providence held on down the stretch to secure the 2-1 victory.
