EASTON, Mass. (August 30, 2026) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team battled Vermont to a hard-fought 1-1 draw Sunday afternoon at Skyhawk Field. With the result, the Skyhawks move to 0-2-3 overall, while the Catamounts move to 0-3-2 on the season.
Highlights
- Freshman Sadie O'Toole, sophomore Dani Lomuscio, junior Meghan Dowd, and senior Lindsey Brown each played all 90 minutes for the Skyhawks.

How it Happened
Vermont came out of the gates strong, applying pressure to the Stonehill defense with a pair of early shots on goal before opening the scoring in the 13th minute. Off a corner kick sent in by Aubrey Bough, Kate Hawley headed the set piece into the top corner of the Skyhawks' net to give the Catamounts a 1-0 lead.
At the 22:48 mark, Vermont nearly doubled its advantage when Hawley fired a shot off the crossbar. The two sides continued to trade chances over the next 17 minutes before Stonehill capitalized on an errant pass from the Catamounts' defense in the 40th minute. Rice collected the turnover and sent a 30-yard strike over the leaping Vermont goalkeeper and into the back of the net, leveling the contest at 1-1 heading into halftime.
The back-and-forth action continued throughout the final 45 minutes, with both teams creating scoring opportunities. Madeline Gardner fired a shot off the left post, while freshman
Allyson Cullingford nearly found the bottom corner of the net within the opening 15 minutes of the second half.
Neither side could find the go-ahead goal over the remainder of the non-conference contest, as Stonehill's defense held firm against another Vermont push. The Skyhawks ultimately battled to a 1-1 draw against the Catamounts.
