NEW ORLEANS, La. –  The Stonehill volleyball team capped off the New Orleans/Nicholls State Challenge with a 3-0 sweep of Alcorn State on Saturday night. 
 
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS

• The Skyhawks hit .341 as a team with 40 kills on 82 attempts and just three errors.
• Sophomore Kendra Sawyer was name to the All-Tournament Team as she paced the offense to a sweep of Alcorn with 32 assists.
• Sophomore Sam Loyd was flawless from the floor, hitting .684 with 13 kills on 19 attempts.  
• Senior Sammy Franco tallied six kills, five aces and two blocks.
• Senior Addy Frye followed up with four aces.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Stonehill took early control behind a 3–0 serve run from senior Sammy Franco that featured three straight aces to jump out to a 9–5 lead. The Skyhawks hit .333 as a unit and never allowed Alcorn State to mount a comeback.
 
Alcorn State made the second set tight, but Stonehill hit a match-best .370 as sophomore Sam Loyd and junior Annabelle Svenson terminated key points down the stretch to pull away and tke the second set, 25-21.
 
Stonehill capitalized on Alcorn State's serve receive errors, finishing with 13 total team kills in the frame to close out the straight-sets victory.
