EASTON, Mass. (September 10, 2026) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team dropped its non-conference finale to UMass Lowell, 1-0, Thursday night at W.B. Mason Stadium. With the result, the Skyhawks fall to 0-4-4 overall, while the River Hawks improve to 2-4-1 on the season.

How it Happened
Following a scoreless first half that featured back-and-forth action, the two teams combined for just six shot attempts, with one finding its way on target, through the opening 45 minutes. UMass Lowell would strike quickly to open the second half.
Just 41 seconds into the second half, Kiera Fitzpatrick chipped a pass over the Skyhawks defense and onto the boot of Mia Eva Girgis, who buried her first goal of the season to put the River Hawks ahead, 1-0.
Less than two minutes later, at the 47:12-mark, sophomore
Dani Lomuscio nearly leveled the score as she sent a right-footed shot toward the top-left corner of the UMass Lowell cage. However, Rachel Welch made a diving stop, extending her outstretched hand to deny Lomuscio and preserve the River Hawks' one-goal advantage.
Following Lomuscio's bid, the two teams returned to back-and-forth action. Late in the second half, Sougaris stood tall in goal, denying a pair of quality strikes from the River Hawks to keep the Skyhawks within one.
Despite a late push, Stonehill was unable to find the equalizer as the Skyhawks fell to the River Hawks, 1-0.
