DOVER, Del. (September 17, 2026) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team soared to an emphatic 8-0 victory over Delaware State in its NEC opener Thursday afternoon. With the win, the Skyhawks improved to 1-4-4 overall and 1-0 in NEC play, while the Hornets fell to 1-5-0 on the season.

- Stonehill's five first-half goals were the most the Skyhawks have scored in a single 45-minute half since putting up five goals against Saint Francis on September 21, 2025.

How it Happened
Stonehill wasted no time jumping out to an early lead, as the Skyhawks held a five-goal advantage through the first 29 minutes of play in the NEC opener.
Foley got the scoring started at the 6:12 mark, netting her first goal of the season before Renz connected with Lomuscio at 8:15 for her first goal of the campaign.
Less than two minutes later, at 9:35, Kazandjian sent a through ball upfield to a racing Renz, who found the back of the net for her second goal of the season.
Just over eight minutes later, at 18:04, Renz continued her strong offensive performance, dishing out her second assist of the afternoon on Cassidy's first of two goals in the opening half.
Cassidy capped off her brace at 28:54, finding the back of the net off a beautiful cross-field pass from Fitzgerald to give the Skyhawks a 5-0 advantage.
After the remainder of the first half remained scoreless, Stonehill came out of the halftime break and quickly regained its scoring momentum. Newell found the back of the net at 47:18, marking her first goal of the season and setting a new NCAA Division I program record for goals scored in a single game.
Stonehill continued to add to its commanding lead throughout the second half, striking twice within an 81-second span at 57:21 and 58:42. Lomuscio fired home her second goal of the afternoon, marking the first collegiate brace of her career, before Lord pounced on a loose ball in the box and scored her first goal of the season to make it 8-0 in favor of the Skyhawks.
Down the stretch, the two sides played back-and-forth, with Stonehill maintaining control to secure the 8-0 victory.
