EASTON, Mass. (September 20, 2026) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team fell to FDU, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at Skyhawk Field, with the Knights converting a late penalty kick to secure the victory. With the result, the Skyhawks dropped to 1-5-4 overall and 1-1 in NEC play, while FDU improved to 4-2-3 overall and 2-0 in conference action.
 
Highlights

• Sophomore Dani Lomuscio led the Skyhawks with four shot attempts, including two on target, while senior Kayla Cassidy added three shots.
• Lomuscio, freshman Sadie O'Toole, junior Meghan Dowd, and seniors Lindsey Brown and Annie Renz each played the full 90 minutes.
• Junior goalkeeper Allie Sougaris recorded nine saves in net, finishing one shy of her career-high of 10, which she set at FDU on September 25, 2025.

 
How it Happened
After five minutes of back-and-forth action, FDU began applying consistent offensive pressure on Sougaris and the Skyhawks' defense. Within a two-and-a-half-minute span from 8:53 to 10:24, Sougaris came up with a trio of stellar saves to deny the Knights and keep the game scoreless.

In the 23rd minute, Sougaris once again came up clutch, stifling a point-blank scoring opportunity from FDU's Amina Brown.

The two sides continued to trade possession until the 35-minute mark, when Stonehill flipped the field and went on the attack. From the far side of the field, Cassidy sent a right-footed shot off the top-right corner of the woodwork, narrowly missing what would have been her fifth goal of the season.

Coming out of halftime with the game still scoreless, Stonehill carried the offensive momentum, outshooting the Knights 8-0 and earning two corner kicks during the opening 17 minutes of the second half. At the 51:04 mark, Lomuscio saw her bid for the back of the net glance off the top of the woodwork, once again narrowly missing an opportunity to break the deadlock.

FDU finally broke through at the 81:27 mark, earning a penalty kick after Roslonek was issued a yellow card inside the 18-yard box. Ana Salas stepped up to the spot and buried her third goal of the season to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.

Despite a late push for the equalizer, the Skyhawks were unable to find the back of the net, falling to the Knights by a final score of 1-0.
