PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Stonehill men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Brown University on the road, Friday evening.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior Nate Monteiro registered two shots, including one on net.
- Freshman Bryan Mayhew also recorded a pair of shots.
- Sophomore Felix van der Hagen made six saves in net.
- Stonehill had the edge on corners, 5-2, the second half.
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a tight, highly contested battle throughout the first half. While the Bears maintained the possession for the majority of the period, holding a 5-1 advantage on corners, the Skyhawks were able to defensively fend off the Bears to head into half time all square at zero.
When the two teams returned at the start of the second half, Brown broke up the stalemate finding the back of the net in the 59
th minute. But Stonehill was not going to be denied as they held the edge on corners, 5-2, in the second.
Freshman
Bryan Mayhew was solid off the bench for the Skyhawks as his footwork forced a Stonehill corner midway through the half. However, the Skyhawks were unable to convert on the corner as the Bears hung on for the 1-0 win.
