FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Stonehill volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on the first day of the Purdue Fort Wayne Invitational to Indiana State, 3-1, and, host, Purdue Fort Wayne, 3-0, on Friday.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Kendra Sawyer notched her fifth double-double of the season with 33 assists, and 13 digs against the Sycamores. Also recorded four aces.
- Senior Abby Farrell notched six total blocks – 3 solo and 3 assisted – against Indiana State, coming one block shy of tying her career single-game best.
- The Skyhawks notched 11 block assists against the Sycamores in their first match of the day.
- Freshman Reegan Mishkin was flawless from the floor against Purdue Fort Wayne, hitting .571 with four kills on seven attempts.
INDIANA STATE 3, STONEHILL 1
In their first match of the day, senior

Kendra Sawyer sparked a 5-0 run to rally the Skyhawks back to tie up the first set, 16-16. But the Sycamores answered to claim the first set, 25-23.
Stonehill bounced back in convincing fashion in the second set. Powered by a par of solo blocks by senior
Abby Farrell and two aces, the Skyhawks evened the match at 1-1 with a 25-19 victory.
Momentum appeared to have swung over to the Skyhawks bench in a grueling, barn-burner of a third set. With both teams trading points late, Indiana State was able to narrowly escape with a 28-26 win to take the 2-1 match lead.
The Skyhawks battled down the stretch in the fourth set to pull even 24-24, but Indiana State sealed the match with the 26-24 win.
PURDUE FORT WAYNE 3, STONEHILL 0
The Skyhawks and Mastodons traded points early in the night cap before Purdue Fort Wayne was able to create some separation to take a 1-0 match lead with a 25-19 win. Purdue Fort Wayne capitalized on their momentum taking the second set, 25-15.
Stonehill put together a strong offensive display in the third set, staying within striking distance late but the Mastodons were able to close out the match with a couple of late kills.
