Written Senior Reflection - Kayla Cassidy, Women's Soccer

EASTON, Mass. – The 2026-2027 Senior Reflections is a series of annual collections. Senior representatives of teams at Stonehill have been invited to contribute and reflect on their personal experiences over their four-year careers at Stonehill - both on and off the playing surface.

Kayla Cassidy, Women's Soccer

Why Stonehill?
I chose Stonehill because it offered the perfect balance between academics and competing at the Division I level. After moving out of state to attend the University of Cincinnati for my freshman semester, I realized that I wanted to be closer to home and be part of a smaller campus community. As soon as I stepped foot on Stonehill's campus, it immediately felt like the perfect fit. From the beautiful campus to the welcoming and friendly community, I knew Stonehill was where I wanted to be.

How Has Stonehill Shaped You As A Person?
When I first stepped foot on Stonehill's campus, I was very shy and reserved. Over the past four years, balancing soccer and academics has completely brought me out of my shell and helped me become more confident in who I am.
In the classroom, my professors have always encouraged me to grow, challenge myself, and step outside of my comfort zone. On the soccer field, I've experienced that same growth while learning to find my voice, communicate with my teammates, and lead by example. Looking back, I never imagined I would become the leader and person I am today. Stonehill has pushed me to believe in myself, use my voice, and become a much more confident version of myself.

Best Moments …
My best moment at Stonehill athletically was getting our first road win at Saint Francis during my sophomore year. It was so special because it was our first Division I road win, and we played so well together as a team. On top of that, I scored my first collegiate goal in that game, which made the moment even more meaningful.

I'll never forget the energy in the locker room after the game. Everyone was singing, dancing, and celebrating together, the vibes were absolutely immaculate! It was one of those moments that reminded me how special our team and the relationships we've built truly are.

Lessons Learned
Over the past four years, I've learned that hard work is contagious, it never goes unnoticed. I've learned to always believe in myself, because when you do, you're capable of achieving more than you ever imagined. I've also learned that growth takes time, and every challenge, setback, and success has helped shape me into the person I am today.
