EASTON, Mass. (Sept. 6, 2026) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team went down to the wire against non-conference opponent Fordham University at Skyhawk Field Sunday afternoon, with the match ending in a 1-1 draw. With the result, the Skyhawks moved to 0-3-4 on the season, while the Rams moved to 2-2-1 overall.

How it Happened
Following a back-and-forth opening eight minutes of action, Stonehill nearly broke open the scoring at the 8:50 mark.
Kayla Cassidy found herself in alone with a Fordham defender matching her stride for stride, but the Rams goalkeeper came up with a point-blank save, steering Cassidy's shot wide of the net to keep the game scoreless.
Hamel stood tall in net and was stalwart when coming off her line. Following a Fordham corner kick that resulted in heavy traffic in front of the net, the sophomore goalkeeper stifled a point-blank chance off the boot of Liv Johnson at the 27:21 mark, keeping the game knotted at zero.
Despite heading into the halftime break scoreless, Fordham opened the scoring in the 53rd minute when Johnson retrieved a chip pass from Renata Mercedes and buried her second goal of the season. Just over two minutes later, however, Stonehill nearly found the equalizer as
Maeve Turmel's left-footed shot rattled off the right post.
Stonehill eventually knotted the game at one when, following a cross into the box from the far side of the pitch by
Annie Renz, Fordham redirected the ball into the back of its own net for an own goal.
Following the equalizer, the two sides continued to go back and forth in an evenly contested match before ultimately playing to a 1-1 draw.
