(Medford, N.J.) all scored 13 points and Patrick
Lee (Fayetteville, N.Y.) chipped in 10 as Stonehill led by
as many as 23 points and cruised to a 75-67 win over Molloy in the
final game of the Lions' Classic on Saturday evening.
The Skyhawks shot 55 percent in the first half to stake
themselves to 38-26 lead at the break. Molloy, who never led in the
game, made only 33 percent of their shots in the opening stanza.
After a three-point play from the Lions' Daniel Concha had the
game at 22-21, Stonehill embarked on an 11-0 run that featured for
layups and a three-pointer from Sean Costigan
(Portland, Maine).
The Skyhawks started the second half on a 7-0 run pushing their
lead to 19 and it eventually ballooned to 23 following a pair of
Lee free throws with a little more than eight minutes left.
Over the next six minutes, the Lions trimmed 14 points of the
Stonehill lead but in the end the Skyhawks held on to improve to
4-0 on the season.
In addition to their four double figure scorers, both Costigan
and Nick Smith (Colonia, N.J.) scored nine points.
Colin Scanlon (Centreville, Va.) also had another
all-around performance with a game-high seven assists, four
rebounds and three points.
Stonehill returns to action on Tuesday when they return to
Northeast-10 action with a 7:30 p.m. tip against UMass-Lowell.
