for goals and assists to lead Skyhawks to win

EASTON, Mass. (April 14,
2010) – Stonehill College, ranked seventh in this
week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches
Association (IWLCA) Division II poll, stormed to its
eighth-straight win with a 23-6 triumph over Southern Connecticut
State University in Northeast-10 Conference women's lacrosse
action at W.B. Mason Stadium tonight.
Freshman Heather Sullivan
(Andover, Mass./Andover) posted season-bests of six goals
and two assists to lead Stonehill to the win with eight points.
Sophomore Sam Lynott (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East)
also contributed a season-best eight points with a season-high five
assists to go with three goals. Junior Hannah Anderson
(Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) added four goals and
two assists for six points, while sophomore Sarah Galligan
(West Newbury, Mass./Pentucket Regional) posted three
goals and two assists for five points.

Freshman Kelsey Reilly
(Hingham, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) had a strong
all-around game for the Skyhawks, contributing three goals and an
assist for four points, while also notching seven ground balls,
five caused turnovers and three draw controls. Classmate
Kayla Green (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry)
chipped in with two goals and two assists off the bench. Senior
Jackie Ladino (North Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth)
dished out three assists.
Six different Southern Connecticut
players scored goals on the night, including first half goals from
senior KellyAnne McCafferty (Durham, N.H./Oyster
River), freshman Jessica Shaw (Beverly,
Mass./Beverly) and sophomore Elizabeth Dishnian
(Shelton, Conn./Shelton).
Senior Lisa Corso (North
Bellmore, N.Y./Wellington C. Mepham) finished with five
saves in goal for Southern as Stonehill posted a 34-10 advantage in
shots for the contest, including 28-7 on goal. Freshman
Rebecca Moore (Marlborough, Mass./St. Mark's
School) stopped one shot in 45:58 in the Stonehill goal.
Stonehill scored the first six
goals in the opening ten minutes of the contest. Sullivan had a
role in three of those markers with two goals and an assist, while
Lynott contributed a goal and assist. The Skyhawks opened an 11-1
lead after two-straight goals from Green, both assisted by Lynott,
with 9:51 to play in the half. Sullivan had two more goals in that
stretch, while Lynott had a goal and two assists.
Stonehill led 14-3 at the break and
then scored six-straight goals during a seven-minute stretch in the
final ten minutes of regulation to turn a 16-5 lead into a 22-5
margin after Sullivan's six of the match with 3:04 to play.
Stonehill (9-1, 7-1 NE-10) is back
in action on Saturday when it visits American International College
for a Northeast-10 matchup at noon. The Skyhawks return home next
Tuesday to host Assumption College on Tuesday night for their final
regular season home match of the season at W.B. Mason Stadium at 7
p.m. Southern Connecticut State (0-9, 0-7 NE-10) visits Southern
New Hampshire University on Saturday at 4 p.m.
