EASTON, Mass. (April 20,
2010) – Stonehill College, ranked seventh in this
week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches
Association (IWLCA) Division II poll, capped its regular season
home schedule with a 25-2 triumph over Assumption College in
Northeast-10 Conference women's lacrosse action on Senior
Night at W.B. Mason Stadium.
Senior Liza Gross became the tenth 200-point scorer in
program history tonight.

On a night when Stonehill
recognized its four seniors in a ceremony prior to the game, the
highlight of the night was one of those honorees, Liza
Gross (Loudonville, N.Y./Shaker), returning from a nearly
three week injury absence to net three goals and become the tenth
player in program history to surpass the 200-point plateau for her
career. The three goals gave her 146, finishing the match with 201
points in 60 career games played.
Freshman Kelsey Reilly
(Hingham, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) led Stonehill to its
tenth-straight win with a season-high six goals to go with two
assists for a season-best eight points, while also adding six
ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers.
Junior Hannah Anderson (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden
Prairie) and sophomore Sarah Galligan (West
Newbury, Mass./Pentucket Regional) each contributed three
goals and three assists for six points, with Galligan also
collecting a team-best eight ground balls.
Sophomore Sam Lynott
(Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) netted a season-high four
goals for the second-straight match for the Skyhawks, while senior
Jackie Ladino (North Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth)
chipped in two goals and two assists for four points.
Freshman Rebecca Moore
(Marlborough, Mass./St. Mark's School) finished with
three saves in goal for Stonehill, while sophomore Mary
King (Waltham, Mass./Waltham) stopped seven shots in
43-minutes of play for Assumption, including six in the first half.
Stonehill posted a commanding 48-6 advantage in shots for the
contest, including a 36-5 margin on goal.

Freshmen Erin Vana
(Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) and Caitlin White
(Bethany, Conn./Bethany) both netted a goal for
Assumption.
Stonehill netted the first nine
goals of the night and never looked back. Reilly and Anderson each
had a goal and assist in the opening run for the Skyhawks, while
Lynott netted two goals. The Skyhawks closed out the first half
with six goals in the final 14 minutes of the frame to carry a 15-1
lead into the intermission. Gross had two of her three goals on the
night in that stretch, with her second of the night with 9:14 left
in the first half giving her the 200-point milestone.
White scored the opening goal of
the second half, four minutes in, for Assumption. Stonehill then
scored the final ten goals of the night. Reilly scored four times
in the second half, while Ladino had two goals and an assist.
Gross and Ladino, along with
classmates Jaclyn Craig (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky
Point) and Jessica Ragnio (Andover,
Mass./Andover) were recognized for playing in their final
regular season home match prior to the start of the game. The four
have been four-year starters for a program which has posted a 53-12
(.815) overall record, including a 38-2 (.950) clip in the NE-10,
over their careers with three NE-10 regular season championships,
two NE-10 Tournament titles and one NCAA Tournament bid to date.
Stonehill (11-1, 9-1 NE-10) is back
in action on Saturday when it heads to Long Island for a key
non-conference clash with No. 3-ranked LIU-C.W. Post at noon. The
Skyhawks close out the regular season a week from Saturday at Saint
Michael's College at noon. Assumption (1-9, 0-8 NE-10) hosts
Franklin Pierce University on Saturday at noon.
