EASTON, Mass. (April 3, 2021) – Stonehill College returned to the field for the first time in ten days and picked up where it left off, claiming a 10-9 triumph over Assumption University, ranked No. 15 in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II poll, in Northeast-10 Conference women's lacrosse action on Timothy J. Coughlin, '80 Memorial Field at W.B. Mason Stadium this afternoon.

How it Happened
- Stonehill used a three-goal run over a two-minute span with under ten minutes to play that turned a one goal deficit (8-7) into a two goal margin (10-8) – the largest by either team all day – after the second of back-to-back goals by junior Emma Sullivan with 7:51 to play.
- Assumption pulled back within a goal after sophomore Jenna Joseph potted her fifth goal of the season with 5:56 remaining.
- Fifth-year senior Bailey Grant capped her season-high 14-save afternoon, that included ten stops in the first half alone, with a key save on a Lauren Jakobs shot with under two minutes to play.
- Stonehill also forced a turnover with 1:06 left and then ran the rest of the clock off to clinch the win.
- The game featured eight ties and six lead changes. Assumption held a one-goal (5-4) halftime lead as senior Allison Foley scored two of her game-high six goals in the closing 3:13 after Stonehill grabbed a lead (4-3) on senior Shannon Hughes' third goal of the half with 4:35 remaining.
- Freshman Molly Mae Hughes and sophomore Katie Julien opened the second half scoring with back to back goals less than three minutes apart to put Stonehill back in front for the fourth time 19-minutes in.
- Foley scored three-straight Assumption goals, wrapped around Sullivan's first of three second half goals within a five-minute span to put the Greyhounds back in front (8-7) with 12:29 remaining before Stonehill was able to grab the lead for good with its three-goal run.
Noteworthy
- Shannon Hughes had a hand in five of Stonehill's ten goals with four goals and an assist for a five-point day. She also collected two ground balls.
- Hughes now has 96 career points (80 goals, 16 assists) in 41 career games.
- Grant made ten of her season-high 14 saves in the first half, finishing with her 18th career double-figure save performance. She now has 433 career saves to rank third all-time in Stonehill history – 15 behind Stonehill Athletic Hall of Famer Carissa Medeiros, '03 (448) for second all-time behind Ashley Armstrong, '15 (534).
- Foley played a role in eight of Assumption's nine goals with six goals and two assists.
- Sullivan scored all three of her goals in the second half for Stonehill, adding an assist for four points and collecting a game-high eight draw controls.
- Molly Mae Hughes, the NE10 Rookie of the Week, dished out a season-high three assists for the second-straight game, adding a goal for a four-point afternoon.

Stonehill (2-2, 2-2 NE10) is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, when it hosts rival Bentley University, ranked No. 14 in the IWLCA Division II poll, for an NE10 matchup at W.B. Mason Stadium at 3 p.m. Fans from off campus will not be permitted to attend the game in conjunction with the current Stonehill and NE10 spectator policy, but the game will be available via SkyhawksVision on NE10 NOW. Assumption (3-1, 3-1 NE10) is currently off until Thursday, April 15, when it is scheduled to host Bentley at 4 p.m.
