Assumption overcame a trio of six goal deficits in the first half, outscoring Stonehill 5-2 in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback win.
  • Stonehill scored the first five goals of the game, including a pair from sophomore Molly Mae Hughes, to jump out to a quick lead less than seven minutes into the game on its way to grabbing an 8-2 advantage after a quarter of play.
  • Hughes scored all three of her career-high matching three goals in the opening frame, while senior preseason All-American Emma Sullivan also netted three and junior Kayla Conway dished out both of her career-high matching two assists.
  • After the two teams traded goals over the first five minutes of the second quarter, Assumption reeled off a six-goal run, sparked by two goals each from seniors Jill Good and Lauren Jakobs, who also both dished assists, to pull even (9-9) after Jakobs set up sophomore Isabelle Edwards for her first of two goals, with 53-seconds left in the first half.
  • Conway's first of three goals on the day with 27-seconds left in the second quarter, sent Stonehill into halftime with the lead, but postgrad Alison Foley pulled Assumption even two minutes into the second half.
  • Conway and senior Kendall Fressle restored a two-goal lead for Stonehill just over five minutes into the third quarter and the Skyhawks stretched that advantage to three (14-11) after Fressle and sophomore Lilly Leach scored back-to-back goals ten seconds apart midway through the quarter.
  • Conway gave Stonehill a three-goal cushion (15-12) with 3:59 to play in the third, but Assumption followed with a four-goal run, sparked by a marker by sophomore Ella Tenney with seven seconds left in the third, before Good, Jakobs and Foley struck over the first five minutes of the fourth to give the Greyhounds their first lead of the game (16-15) with 9:51 to play.
  • Leach's third goal of the night equalized for Stonehill with 8:54-remaining, but Assumption followed with goals from Foley and Edwards over a two-minute span for a two-goal Assumption margin (18-16) with 5:44 remaining.
  • Stonehill pulled back within one with four minutes still to play after Sullivan's fifth goal of the night, but was unable to secure another equalizer down the stretch.
  • The Skyhawks couldn't get another shot, turning the ball over twice in the last three minutes to stunt the late comeback.

Noteworthy

  • Assumption held the lead for just 8:30 on the night, digging itself out from three six goal deficits.

  • Good led Assumption with a game-high seven points with five goals and two assists.
  • Stonehill saw its first five-game win streak since April 2017 halted, dropping its first NE10 game of the spring and is off to a 4-1 start in NE10 play for the first time since winning the first nine in the Conference in 2015.
  • Stonehill moved up six spots to No. 18 in this week's IWLCA Division II poll after returning to the national poll for the first time since 2018 last week. The Skyhawks moved up two spots to No. 14 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine poll.
