SENIOR DAY PHOTOS
EASTON, Mass. (April 29, 2023)- The Stonehill College men's track and field team hosted the Skyhawk Invitational Saturday as the squad had many strong performances Saturday. Prior to the meet, Stonehill honored its seven seniors: Colin Black, Jake Dwyer, Casey Ivester, Andrew Janus, Reilly Johnston, Nate Skopas, and Tyler Thomas. Stonehill College Athletics would like to thank our seniors for all their efforts for the Stonehill men's track and field and cross country programs over their careers!
Highlights
- Solomon King led the way for the Skyhawks Saturday with three top-five finishes including a first-place mark in the 200-meter dash at 21.70 seconds. In the 100-meter dash, King ended up in second place with a time of 10.93 seconds, and in his final event, he notched a third-place leap in the high jump at 1.80 meters (5' 10.75").
- Jacob Pacheco also partook in the high jump and won the event with a height of 1.90 meters (6' 2.75") which tied his season-high. Pacheco also had another top-five finish on the day as he came in second in javelin with a personal record of 56.16 meters (184' 3") which is currently the fifth-longest toss in the Northeast Conference.
- Stonehill also represented well in the triple jump as the Skyhawks took the top two spots led by Parker Hagen. Hagen grabbed first place with a career-best jump of 13.52 meters (44' 4.25") which is also the ninth-best mark in the conference. Right behind Hagen was Levi Wurster at 12.62 meters (41' 5") which was also a personal best and is the 16th best in the NEC.
- Michael Gozzo earned multiple top-five finishes in both throwing events he competed in Saturday highlighted by a first-place throw in discus at 39.35 meters (129' 1"). Gozzo's toss Saturday is also a top-20 throw in the NEC (17th place). His other top-five finish came in the shotput when he finished in fifth place at 12.80 meters (42' 0") which is also 17th best in the conference.
Other Performances
- In the 4x400 relay, the group of Patrick Morin, Thomas Forde, David DiPietro, and Louis Warner came in second place with a time of 3:37.14.
- Cody DeAngelo tied his season-high in the pole vault as he earned third place at 4.25 meters (13' 11.25") which is the seventh-best in the conference.
- Chris Cox set a new personal record in the hammer throw today when he had a toss of 46.65 meters (153' 1"). His mark in Saturday's meet is now the 10th best in the NEC.
- The 400-meter hurdles had another top-five finish for Stonehill as Andrew Morin came in fifth place at 59.99 seconds.
- Along with King, the Skyhawks had five other top-15 finishers in the 100-meters that included Patrick Morin who came in third at 11.26 seconds. After Morin was John Paulhamus (11.28 seconds), Shea Drugan (11.40 seconds), Ryan Lavery (11.45 seconds), and Zachary Ofurum (11.50 seconds) in fourth, ninth, 11th, and 12th place respectively. For Morin, Paulhamus, and Lavery, the three runners set new career bests in the event.
- Stonehill also represented well in the 200-meter dash as the Purple and White had six top-15 finishes. Including King, Drugan was one of the six as he came in second at 22.25 seconds followed by Lavery shortly after in fifth (22.83 seconds). Lavery's time was a personal record. Right behind Lavery was Paulhamus in sixth (22.93 seconds) which was also a new career best and a few spots later, Ofurum came in 10th (23.03 seconds) and finally, Patrick Morin in 11th place (23.05 seconds).
- Jake Dwyer came in ninth for the 110-meter hurdles at 17.73 seconds.
- The Skyhawks had multiple strong performances in the 1500-meter as the Purple and White had six top-15 finishes. Stonehill grabbed spots four through seven highlighted by Johnston's fourth-place finish at 3:59.12 which ended up being a career-best and is 12th best in the NEC. Black took fifth place with a personal record of 3:59.81 and the 13th-best in the conference and in sixth was Jace Hollenbach also with a career-best time of 4:00.59. Finally, in seventh place was Conor Hughes with a time of 4:01.36. A few spots later, Patrick Garratt took 12th (4:05.96), and in 13th was Aidan Byrne at 4:07.06.
- Three more throwers joined Gozzo in the top 10 for discus as Eli Grover came in second at 38.18 meters (125' 3") and a couple of spots later was Cox at 35.29 meters (115' 9"). Two spots after Cox was Thomas at 32.66 meters in sixth.
- Hagen and Wurster both had strong performances in the long jump as Hagen came in sixth at 6.16 meters (20' 2.5"). Two spots later was Wurster in eighth with a leap of 5.91 meters (19' 4.75").
- Joining Gozzo in shotput, Jonathan Scampoli was right behind him in sixth at 12.59 meters (41' 3.75"). A few spots after was Thomas in ninth at 11.90 meters (39' 0.5") and the squads other top 15 finisher was Gorver in 12th with a throw of 11.66 meters (38' 3.25").
- Nate Skopas led the way for Stonehill in the 400-meter run when he crossed the finish line in ninth place (52.74 seconds). Rounding out the top 15 was Ivester at 14th (54.15 seconds).
- During the 800-meter, the Skyhawks had two runners place within the top 15 led by Warner in eighth (1:57.36) which ended up being a career-best. Warner's time in the event is the 18th fastest time in the NEC. Thomas Forde grabbed the other top-15 spot when he finished in 15th place at 1:59.43.
