NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (April 17, 2025) – Both the men's and women's Stonehill College track and field teams finished in second place in the Merrimack College Alumni Classic on Thursday at Duane Stadium.
The men's team placed second with 181 points, and the women tallied 180 points with the same placement. Merrimack won on the men's side with 211 points, also winning the women's with 185.5 points.
WOMEN'S EVENTS
- In the first event of the afternoon, senior Madison Gunderway (Cranston, R.I.) placed sixth in the javelin throw, reaching 32.79m (107' 7"). Gunderway also came in seventh in the hammer throw, hitting a mark of 39.28m (129' 2").
- Freshman Samantha Gaudet (Falmouth, Maine) came in third place in the discus throw with a toss of 37.40m (122' 8"), her second-best throw of the spring.
- Classmate Makenna Dube (North Andover, Mass.) set three personal records on Thursday, placing sixth in the discus (34.30m; 112' 6"), fourth in the shot put (10.98m; 36' 0.25"), and ninth in the hammer throw 30.55m (100' 3").
- Graduate student Abigail Larsson (Bayport, N.Y.) won the pole vault with a vault of 3.40m (11' 1.75") while sophomore Morgan Correia (North Dighton, Mass.) came in second place after reaching 3.25m (10'8").
- Sophomore Kayla Oakes (Kingston, N.Y.) had her best long jump performance of the outdoor season, winning the event with a leap of 5.62m (18' 5.25").
- Junior Kaia Eder (Moorestown, N.J.) came in third in the long jump, reaching 5.19m (17' 0.5") before winning the triple jump with a mark of 11.08m (36' 4.25").
- Three Skyhawk freshmen made up the top-three finishers in the high jump, with Hannah Santos (Swansea, Mass.) winning the event, leaping 1.63m (5' 4.25"). Simone Connolly (West Roxbury, Mass.) hit her best mark of the spring at 1.58m (5' 2.25") and Mollie Osgood (Wilmington, Mass.) also set her best outdoor mark at 1.58m (5' 2.25").
- Freshman Rachael Korowski (Hudson, Mass.) ran in her first outdoor track event, placing fifth in the 1,500-meter run, finishing in 5:04.30. Classmate Emily Weigle (Beachwood, N.J.) also made her outdoor debut in the 1500m run, clocking in at 5:11.76 to place seventh.
- Senior Madison Rousseau (Canton, Mass.) won three events on Thursday, finishing the 100-meter hurdles in 14.87 seconds before setting a PR in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:03.56, the second-best time in the NEC this spring. She was also a member of the first-place 4x100-meter relay team.
- Freshman Aly Bassett (Easton, Mass.) set a pair of PRs, placing fourth in the 100m hurdles in 15.71 seconds and finishing 12th in the 100-meter dash at 13.38 seconds.
- Junior Grace Tyrrell (Cavendish, Vt.) came in second place in the 400-meter run at 59.17 seconds and also placed sixth in the 200-meter dash at 26.32 seconds.
- Senior Emma Lawrence (Milford, Mass.) set a new PR in the 400m run, finishing in 59.87 seconds.
- Junior Jordan Malloy (Colchester, Conn.) and freshman Emmy Belvin () placed first and second in the 800-meter run with Malloy leading the pack at 2:20.02. Belvin was less than a second behind at 2:20.82. They were also both members of the first place 4x400-meter relay race team.
- The 4x100m relay squad of sophomore Katie Gibbons (Pembroke, Mass.), graduate student Kaytlin Encarnacao (Reading, Mass.), sophomore Madison Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.), and Rousseau won the event with a time of 48.01 seconds, the third-best time in the conference.
- In the 4x400m relay race, the group of Malloy, Belvin, Hildreth, and Lawrence won with a time of 4:04.79.
MEN'S EVENTS
- Graduate student Jacob Pacheco (Merrimack, N.H.) won the javelin throw with a toss of 56.33m (184' 10") and placed second in the pole vault at 4.40m (14' 5.25").
- Sophomore Joseph Chesney (Cumberland, R.I.) won the discus throw, reaching 45.92m (150' 8") with his toss. He also podiumed in the shot put, coming in third place with a throw of 13.92m (45' 8").
- Junior Eli Grover (Falmouth, Maine) came in third place in the discus (41.50m; 136' 2") and placed sixth in the shot put (12.76m; 41' 10.5").
- Sophomore Christopher Gill (Boston, Mass.) led the Skyhawks in the shot put, placing second as he reached 14.65m (48' 0.75") with his throw.
- Senior Parker Hagen (Newport, R.I.) had his best long jump of the spring, reaching 6.55m (21' 6") to place fifth on Thursday. Hagen also won the triple jump with a leap of 13.85m (45' 5.25"), the fifth-best mark in the NEC this season.
- Senior Sean Theurer (Burlington, Mass.) had a sixth-place finish in the long jump, reaching 6.15m (20' 2.25").
- Sophomore Keagan Fletcher (Wrentham, Mass.) and sophomore Drew Pierson (Ellsworth, Maine) both set PRs in the high jump, tying for first place with a mark of 1.93m (6' 4"), tied for the sixth-best leap in the conference.
- Sophomore Nicholas Davies (Auckland, New Zealand) won the 1500m run with a time of 4:04.59, and classmate Colin Keane (Blackwood, N.J.) finished runner-up in the race at 4:05.00.
- Sophomore Will Tinkham (Stoughton, Mass.) came in second in the 110-hurdles with a new PR at 14.62 seconds, the fifth-best mark in the NEC, and freshman Alex Hersey (Marblehead, Mass.) came in third place at 15.53 seconds.
- Senior Shea Drugan (Westfield, Mass.) placed second in the 100m dash at 10.67 seconds, a new PR, and freshman Miles Burr (Trenton, Maine) finished the 100m in 10.75 second to come in third place.
- Drugan also won the 200m dash at 21.35 seconds, setting another PR and the third-best time in the NEC this spring.
- Senior Louis Warner (Kinderhook, N.Y.) finished second in the 800m run at 2:00.79, and freshman Nathan Binda (Auburn, N.H.) podiumed in the 800m at 2:01.65.
- Winning the 400-meter hurdles was freshman Marcus McCoy (Linden, N.J.), who set a personal record at 57.58 seconds.
- Sophomore Jon Dougherty (Reading, Mass.) finished fifth in the 200m dash at 21.92 seconds, a new personal record.
