STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (February 18, 2024) – The men's track and field team competed on day one of the Northeast Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships with nine different runners qualifying for tomorrow's finals at the Ocean Breeze Sports Complex.
The men's long jump, high jump, weight throw, and 3000m race went final Sunday while the other events held preliminary qualifying races. Overall, the Skyhawks are in fourth place with 11.5 points after day one while Wagner currently leads the standings with 71 points.
FIELD EVENTS
- Junior Jacob Pacheco (Merrimack, N.H.) tied for fourth place in the high jump final on Sunday, reaching a mark of 1.91m (6' 3.25") to secure 4.5 points toward the Stonehill team score.
- Senior Solomon King (Norwood, Mass.) placed sixth in the high jump final to notch three points for the Skyhawks, also reaching 1.91m (6' 3.25").
- In the weight throw final, senior Chris Cox (Warwick, R.I.) set a new personal record with his toss of 15.15m (49' 8"), placing ninth overall.
- Freshman Max Bishop (Hopkinton, N.H.) also set a personal record in the weight throw on Sunday, placing 13th with a throw of 13.90m (45' 7").

- The Skyhawks had a pair of freshmen begin the day by qualifying for the 60m hurdle final tomorrow as Ean Hynes (Newburyport, Mass.) finished in 8.55 seconds to place fourth while Will Tinkham (Stoughton, Mass.) placed sixth in 8.57 seconds.
- King placed first in the 60m dash preliminaries, crossing the finish line in 6.86 seconds to secure his spot in tomorrow's final. The senior also placed first in the 200m dash prelims, finishing in 21.38 seconds.
- Junior Shea Drugan (Westfield, Mass.). qualified alongside King for the 200m dash finals tomorrow, placing fifth in the preliminary race with a time of 22.02 seconds.
- Freshman Jon Dougherty (Reading, Mass.) finished the 400m dash in 50.00 seconds to place ninth, one spot out of qualifying finish for tomorrow's final.
- In the 500m dash prelims, junior Louis Warner (Kinderhook, N.Y.) placed third with a time of 1:05.98 while senior Andrew Morin (Beverly, Mass.) finished sixth in 1:06.85 as the duo qualified for the final tomorrow.
- Freshman Brendan Wilder (Waltham, Mass) qualified for tomorrow's 1-mile race with a fourth-place finish in the prelim as he clocked in at 4:20.31. Senior Connor Hughes (Melrose, Mass.) also qualified for tomorrow's mile race, placing ninth in 4:22.48.
- Freshman Matthew Malora (Harrington Park, N.J.) notched a new personal record in the 800m race, placing seventh in the prelims to qualify for tomorrow's final.
- Earning four points toward the Stonehill team score was fifth-year Reilly Johnston (Providence, R.I.) who placed fifth in the 3000m race final with a time of 8:30.78.
- Junior Jace Hollenbach (Topsham, Maine) also ran in the 3000m final, setting a new personal best time of 8:34. 95 to place ninth overall.
- Freshman Nicholas Davies (Auckland, New Zealand) placed tenth in the 3000m race on Sunday, crossing the finish line in 8:36.95.
