Softball Falls to Troy on the Final Day of The Spring Games

MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. (March 10, 2024) The Stonehill College softball team concluded its five-game weekend at R.O.C. Park in Florida with a loss to Troy, 11-1, in five innings Sunday afternoon to close out The Spring Games.

Troy 11 (19-8, 0-0 Sun Belt), Stonehill 1 (3-7, 0-0 NEC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Troy got on the board early as Jade Sinness led off the bottom of the first inning with a homer to right field followed by the Trojans scoring nine more runs on nine hits to build a 10-0 lead in the opening frame.

Junior Shannon Conte (Amesbury, Mass.) got the Skyhawks on the board in the next half inning, blasting a homer to center field for her first of the season.

The Trojans scored again in the bottom of the fourth, plating run number 11 on an RBI single from Taylor McKinney as Troy won the game in five innings, 11-1.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • Conte hit the first home run of the season for the Skyhawks with a shot to dead center.
  • Hospodar pitched four innings on Sunday, her fourth game of the weekend.
  • Troy finished the game with 11 runs on 13 hits while pitchers Olivia Cato and Kate Peters held Stonehill to just one run on three hits.
