WORCESTER, Mass. (May 10, 2024) – The Stonehill men's track and field team began the final meet of the 2023-24 season, competing on day one of New England (NEICAAA) Outdoor Championships at the Hart Field and Track on the campus of the Holy Cross on Friday.
Student-athletes had to rank in the top 32 of all New England competitors across Divisions I, II, and III in track events and the top 24 in field events to qualify for New England Championships.
FIELD EVENTS
- Senior Jacob Pacheco (Merrimack, N.H.) notched a fourth-place finish in the pole vault finals, reaching a mark of 4.57m (15' 0"), his second-best mark of the spring.
- Pacheco also placed ninth in the javelin throw with a toss of 57.04m (187' 1").
- Senior Cody DeAngelo (Old Saybrook, Conn.) also qualified for the pole vault finals with Pacheco, placing ninth with a height of 4.27m (14' 0").
TRACK EVENTS
- Despite setting a new personal record in the 110-meter hurdles preliminary race, freshman Will Tinkham (Stoughton, Mass.) just missed qualifying for tomorrow's final with a time of 14.84 seconds, placing ninth.
- Sophomore Patrick Morin (Barnstable, Mass.) set a new PR in the 100-meter dash, placing 17th in the prelims with a time of 10.85 seconds.
- Freshman Jon Dougherty (Reading, Mass.) placed 13th in the 400-meter prelim, setting a new PR as he crossed the finish line in 49.57 seconds.
- A trio of freshmen ran in the 5000-meter run finals for the Skyhawks, paced by Brayton Gazerro (Coventry, R.I.) who placed fourth, finishing in 14:53.56. Ryan Pereira (Danbury, Conn.) came in sixth place with a PR of 14:57.16 while Dylan Brilliant (Plymouth, Mass.) placed 19th, clocking in at 15:47.87.
