How it Happened
Stonehill came out of the gates strong in its season opener, tallying three early shots within the opening 90 seconds of play, with two being on goal off the sticks of senior
Josie Mendeszoon and junior
Sarah Taylar.
However, at the 3:47 mark of the first period, Boston College would light the lamp as senior Abby
Newhookwent coast-to-coast, scoring her first goal of the season and 27th of her collegiate career.
Less than 30 seconds after the Eagles opened the scoring, Stonehill would level the game at one aside as Geist would sneak a shot from the nearside faceoff circle through the pads of Campbell and into the back of the BC net. The goal marked Geist's 23rd career, second among active Skyhawks, only trailing junior classmate
Maddison Achtyl with 24 career goals.
Boston College would regain its one-goal advantage with just over five minutes remaining in the opening frame. A bouncing puck shot in from the neutral zone by Clougherty would make its way into the back of the net past Caron to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.
At the 14:11 mark of the second period, Boston College would increase its lead to 3-1. Between the circles, Jordan would receive a tape-to-tape pass from senior
Jenna Carpenter below the goal line and rifle a shot past Caron in net for her fifth career goal and first of the season.
In the third period, the Eagles would cap off the game by scoring goals at 11:45 and 19:22, respectively. Taber rounded out her two-point night lighting the lamp on her first goal of the season off assists from first-year student
Alana Devlin and senior
Kiley Erickson, while first-year student
Tricia Piku netted her first career goal in the final minute of regulation to seal the, 5-1, win for Boston College.
