EASTON, Mass. (July 21, 2026) – Stonehill College women's hockey head coach Lee-J Mirasolo has announced the hiring of Kaitlin Finnegan as an assistant coach ahead of the 2026-27 season.

"Finny cares about people and the connection she makes with them. She'll bring that skill to the players on the team and community at Stonehill," said Mirasolo. "Beyond that, she's diligent, detail-oriented, and will be a massive asset to the program."

Finnegan begins her collegiate coaching career following a standout five-year NCAA Division I playing career. She spent her first four seasons at Lindenwood University, appearing in 109 games while serving as an assistant captain from 2022-25. During her time with the Lions, she was nominated for the Lion Pride Award, Community Champion Award, and Heart of a Lion Award. Off the ice, Finnegan served as a LindenPeers mentor and volunteered with the St. Louis Blues Special Hockey program.

For her final collegiate season, Finnegan transferred to the University of Delaware, where she was selected as the first captain in program history. She earned Team MVP honors, the 302 Award, the Coaches' Award, and was named the Atlantic Hockey America Individual Sportsmanship Award recipient for her consistency, leadership, and all-around impact on and off the ice.

In addition to her playing career, Finnegan has built an impressive coaching and player development résumé. She served as a Hockey Team Leader with USA Hockey, mentoring young athletes while emphasizing leadership, teamwork, and communication. She has also worked as a hockey development coach and instructor with Peak Hockey KC, Ferschweiler Hockey School, and Accelerate Goaltending.

Finnegan earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology with a minor in coaching from Lindenwood before completing a master's degree in leadership and a graduate certificate in strategic leadership from Delaware in March 2026.

Finnegan joins a Stonehill coaching staff led by Mirasolo, who enters her fourth season as head coach, alongside assistant coach Erin Connolly.

The Skyhawks are coming off an 18-17-2 campaign in 2025-26, posting a 16-10-2 mark in NEWHA play and earning the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament.
