Men's Basketball Freshman Hermann Koffi Earns Third Rookie of the Week Award of Season

Koffi has scored a career-high 18 points in back-to-back games to garner third Rookie of the Week award of freshman campaign

EASTON, Mass. (January 22, 2025) Freshman Hermann Koffi (Quebec City, Quebec) was named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the third time in the past four weeks, the league announced Wednesday.

The Stonehill College men's basketball team erased a 19-point deficit with under eight minutes to play but dropped a Northeast Conference contest at Le Moyne College, 73-72, after the Dolphins sank a pair of free throws with four seconds left at Ted Grant Court Monday night. This was the Skyhawks' lone NEC contest this past weekend as Stonehill is 2-3 in league play, sitting in a tie for fourth place in the conference.

Koffi led Stonehill with 18 points, matching his career-high. He made six of his 13 shot attempts, including four of his nine three-pointers. Koffi hit the would-be game-winning shot with nine seconds left, but the Dolphins got a late foul call to survive with the win. Koffi also matched his career-highs of four three-pointers made; this was his third time in the past three games with four threes.

Koffi's 18 points are the most by a Skyhawk freshman since senior Christopher Melis (Chappaqua, N.Y.) scored 22 points at Bridgeport on November 17, 2021.

The freshman from Quebec City, Quebec is averaging 13.8 points per game over the past six games, scoring at least 12 points in five of the past six. He leads all NEC freshmen in scoring this season, averaging 10.3 points per game. His 33.1 minutes per game ranks fourth in the NEC, and he ranks 20th in scoring.

Koffi is one of the top shooters in the conference this season, as his 39-made threes rank third in the NEC. His 49.7% shooting clip from the field is second-best on the team, while his 39.0% clip from long range is the third-best mark for the Skyhawks.

Stonehill is the lone team in the NEC with 4+ players averaging over 10.0ppg this season. Josh Morgan - 12.3ppg, Todd Brogna - 12.0ppg, Louie Semona - 10.6ppg, Hermann Koffi - 10.3ppg

Stonehill men's basketball is back in action for two home games at Merkert Gym this weekend as the Skyhawks host Chicago State on Friday at 7 p.m. before taking on FDU on Sunday at 2 p.m.
