KINGSTON,R.I. – The Stonehill men's track and field team opened the 2025-2026 indoor season with a tri-meet against Rhode Island and New Hampshire on Friday afternoon. The Skyhawks were led by pair of freshmen who knocked down two freshman marks in the 600-meters.
 
TRACK HIGHLIGHTS

• Freshmen Ben Tavares and Owen Partridge eclipsed the 600-meter freshman record finishing third and fourth with times of 1:23.11 and1:23.33, respectively.
• Freshman Zakai Perkins placed second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.26, just ahead of Ean Hynes at 8.33.
• Junior William Tinkham was fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.44.
• Sophomore Kauan Bento placed third 60-meter dash (6.98).  
• Junior Jack Dougherty (35.78) and sophomore Miles Burr (35.97) finished back-to-back with second and third place finishes in the finals of the 300-meter dash.
• Junior Matthew Malora clocked a top collegiate best time of 2:35.13 in the 1000 meter run to finish fourth.
• Sophomore Ethan Fadden placed eighth in the 3000-meter with a time of 8:53.73.
• The Skyhawks 4x400 meter relay team of Cam Begley, Owen Partridge, Brian Stevens and Jack Dougherty finished third (3:28.38).  

 
FIELD HIGHLIGHTS

• Freshman Zakai Perkins placed seventh in the long jump with a mark of 6.72 meters.
• Freshman Leo Fleming registered top collegiate marks in the long jump (6.19m) and triple jump (13.04).
• Junior Joe Chesney posted a top collegiate mark of 15.15 meters in the shot put.
• Junior Drew Pierson registered a top collegiate mark of 1.95m in the high jump to place fifth.
• Freshman Daniel Velez posted a top collegiate time of 4.60m in the pole vault to finish in the top five.
