HOW IT HAPPENED
High Point wasted no time establishing an early lead, as the Panthers built a commanding nine-run advantage after the first three innings. Key to the offensive outburst was a grand slam by Hammond, followed by a two-run home run from Simpson and a solo shot from graduate student Jackson Melton.

Stonehill responded in the top of the fourth inning, when senior Sam Parks launched a long fly ball to left field. The ball bounced out of the glove of the Panther leftfielder, allowing three runs to score and trimming the deficit to 9-3 in favor of High Point.

However, High Point quickly regained control. In the bottom of the fourth, redshirt junior Landen Johnson and Simpson each hit solo home runs. In the fifth and sixth innings, three RBI base hits from Thorbahn, Gaspar, and sophomore Grayson Sparr brought the Skyhawks within five runs.

High Point maintained its offensive momentum in the bottom of the sixth, adding four more runs to extend the lead to 15-6 heading into the seventh inning.

The Skyhawks fought back in the seventh, with back-to-back solo home runs from McGee and Cohall narrowing the margin to six. However, the Panthers pulled away in the eighth and ninth innings, adding six more runs to secure a dominant 21-9 victory.
