CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (February 15, 2026) – The Stonehill College baseball team dropped its series closing doubleheader to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Sunday afternoon, as the Skyhawks came up short in game one 11-8, before the Islanders rounded out the overall series sweep with an 11-1 decision in game two. With the results, Stonehill moved to 0-4 overall, while TAMUCC improved to 4-0 to start the campaign.
GAME ONE: TAMUCC 11 (3-0, 0-0 SLC), Stonehill 8 (0-3, 0-0 NEC)
How It Happened
Stonehill struck first in the opening frame when junior
Ryan LeClair was hit by the second pitch of the game. Sophomore
Will Newton followed by roping a triple into right field, scoring LeClair and giving the Skyhawks an early 1-0 advantage.
After two and a half scoreless innings on both sides, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi surged ahead with a decisive rally, plating eight runs in the fourth inning and adding two more in the fifth to build a commanding lead.
Stonehill mounted a strong response in the seventh, sending six runners across the plate to cut the deficit to 10-7. Junior

Sean McGee each delivered clutch two-run singles to fuel the six-run outburst.
The Islanders added an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single down the left field line by Hunter Azemar. The Skyhawks continued to battle in the ninth, as Chin drove in Newton from first with an RBI double to trim the margin to three. However, the deficit proved too much to overcome, as Stonehill ultimately fell, 11-8.

- LeClair extended his on-base streak to 31 straight games, dating back to last season, after being hit by a pitch in the first inning.
- Chin led the Skyhawks at the dish going 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored, and three RBI.

- Freshman Kenny Meliere made his collegiate debut and pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

How It Happened
Stonehill found itself locked in a pitchers' duel with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi through the first four and a half innings, as freshman
Noah Durham and Bryson Shea traded strong innings in a tightly contested battle. The early showdown featured just three combined hits, eight strikeouts, and saw Stonehill break through with one run in the top of the third.
Junior
John Bureau sparked the rally with a slicing leadoff double to left field and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by junior
Will Christopher. Freshman
Armanis Romero followed with a groundout to shortstop, allowing Bureau to race home with the game's first run.
The Islanders answered in the bottom of the fifth, as Christian Smith-Johnson tied the game with an RBI triple. A sacrifice fly by Austin Russell and an outfield error later in the inning enabled two more runs to score, giving TAMUCC the lead.
Corpus Christi seized control in the sixth, capitalizing on four hits and four Stonehill fielding miscues to plate eight runs in the frame. After the Islanders' eight-run surge, the Skyhawks were unable to mount a response, ultimately falling by a final score of 11-1 after seven innings.

- Romero notched his first collegiate hit and RBI, finishing 1-for-2 in game two for Stonehill College.
- Durham impressed in his collegiate debut on the mound, striking out four and allowing just two earned runs over 4.2 innings of work.
- Sophomore Noah Basgaard made his collegiate debut in relief, recording one strikeout across 0.2 innings.
- Sophomore Alex Cook made his Skyhawks debut, striking out two and surrendering no earned runs in his outing.
