WESTWOOD, Mass. (March 22, 2026) – The Stonehill College baseball team captured its first NEC weekend sweep of the season with a pair of comeback victories over Mercyhurst University in a Sunday doubleheader at Xaverian Brothers High School. The Skyhawks rallied for a 9-7 walk-off win in game one before erupting for a 15-5 victory in the nightcap to complete the sweep.
GAME ONE: Stonehill 9 (5-13, 4-1 NEC), Mercyhurst 7 (4-12, 4-4 NEC)
How It Happened
Stonehill's
Ryan Douglas and Mercyhurst's Nate Vargo were locked in a pitcher's duel through the first three innings, combining to allow just four hits while striking out seven without surrendering a run.
Mercyhurst broke through in the top of the fourth on an RBI single from Luke Babcock, then added four more runs in the fifth to build a 5-0 advantage.
The Skyhawks answered immediately in the bottom half of the inning, erupting for five runs to even the score. RBI singles from
Cam Morrison, Sean McGee, and
Ryan LeClair cut the deficit to 5-3, before
Michael Rickert delivered a two-run single to knot the game at five.
The Lakers regained the lead in the sixth, as Dana Williams launched a two-run homer to put Mercyhurst back in front, 7-5. After allowing the two-run blast,
Jake Lanzer settled things down out of the bullpen, delivering 3.0 innings of strong relief while striking out six.
Stonehill pulled even in the bottom of the eighth when
Kacin Robinson led off with a single and later scored on Morrison's first home run of the season, a two-run shot to left that tied the game at 7-7.
After a clean top of the ninth from
Noah Basgaard,
Eisig Chin drew a five-pitch walk to open the bottom half, setting the stage for
Nick Lundquist. With one strike in the count, Lundquist crushed a two-run walk-off home run over the left field wall—his first collegiate homer—to complete the comeback and secure a 9-7 victory for the Skyhawks.

- Morrison and Robinson paced the Skyhawks in game one, each recording their first career three-hit performance.
- McGee, LeClair, Rickert, and Lundquist also turned in multi-hit efforts in the opener.
- Parks extended his hitting streak to 12 games, going 1-for-4 with a double, run scored, and sacrifice, while Nathan Kearney pushed his on-base streak to 10 straight games.
- Basgaard earned his first collegiate win, and Lanzer matched his career high with six strikeouts over 3.0 innings of relief.
GAME TWO: Stonehill 15 (6-13, 5-1 NEC), Mercyhurst 5 (4-13, 4-5 NEC)
How It Happened
Mercyhurst jumped out to an early advantage in game two, plating three runs in the top of the first before adding single tallies in the second and fourth innings to take a 5-0 lead.
Stonehill broke through in the bottom of the fifth, finally getting to Mercyhurst starter Andrew Malec, who had kept the Skyhawks off the board while striking out seven through the first 4.2 innings. With two outs, LeClair sparked the rally with an RBI single through the left side, scoring Parks, who had reached scoring position on a double up the middle. Two batters later, Rickert worked a full-count bases-loaded walk to bring home McGee and cut the deficit to 5-2.
The Skyhawks erupted in the bottom of the sixth, sending 10 runs across the plate to seize control of the game. Parks and Morrison each delivered RBI singles in the frame, while Stonehill's disciplined approach at the plate was on full display with eight walks and three hit-by-pitches contributing to the outburst.
Adam Martin was dominant out of the bullpen, finishing off 3.0 innings of relief with six strikeouts, including three in the seventh. Stonehill then put the finishing touches on the comeback in the bottom of the seventh, plating three more runs to trigger the run rule and secure a 15-5 victory, completing the doubleheader sweep and its first NEC series sweep of the season.

- Parks led the way for the Skyhawks in game two, going 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBI, extending both his hitting and on-base streaks to 13 games.
- LeClair, McGee, and Kearney also extended their on-base streaks to 14, 12, and 11 games, respectively.
- Robinson recorded his first career stolen base, while Morrison was perfect behind the plate, going 4-for-4 in catching runners attempting to steal.
- Martin earned his first win of the season with 3.0 innings of scoreless relief, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out a season-high six.
