EASTON, Mass. (March 23, 2026) – Freshman midfielder
Sophia Gouveia of the Stonehill women's lacrosse team has been honored as the NEC Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this spring, the conference office announced Monday.
Gouveia, a native of North Stonington, Conn., also earned the award Feb. 23, March 2 and March 9 and was an NEC Prime Perfomer this week as well. Joining her on the weekly awards is sophomore
Neave Bowman who was also tabbed an NEC Prime Performer.
Gouveia scored a career-best four goals in Stonehill's 20-6 win over Delaware State March 21. Gouveia also had eight draw controls, collected two ground balls and caused one turnover. Through 10 games, Gouveia leads the Skyhawks with 45 draw controls, is second with 20 goals and stands third with 24 points. |
Bowman had a career-day against the Hornets, talling two goals and handing out four assists for a career-best six points. Bowman also had a ground ball.
Stonehill (4-6, 1-1 NEC) will host Central Connecticut State (0-8, 0-2 NEC) on Wednesday, March 25 at 3 p.m. on NESN Nation and NEC Front Row.
