How It Happened
FDU opened the scoring in the first when Johnathan Gomez launched a solo home run to center. Stonehill answered emphatically in the second, erupting for five runs to take a 5-1 lead. Robinson singled to start the rally before walks by graduate student Sam Parks and Morrison loaded the bases. After a hit-by-pitch to LeClair forced in a run, Rickert crushed his second grand slam of the season to put the Skyhawks in front.

The Knights responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning, highlighted by a two-run single from Jeremy Delamota and a two-run home run by Travis Stroh, tying the game at five.

Stonehill regained the lead in the third when Newton lined an RBI double down the left field line, scoring Robinson. The Skyhawks added another run on a sacrifice fly by LeClair to take a 7-5 advantage into the fifth.

FDU surged back ahead in the bottom of the fifth on a three-run homer from Nick Quagliato, but Welsch came on in relief and silenced the Knights, striking out five over 2.1 dominant innings.

Rickert gave Stonehill the lead once again with his second home run of the game in the seventh before the Skyhawks broke things open in the eighth. A six-run frame—featuring a sacrifice fly from Morrison, a three-run double by LeClair, and RBI singles from Howland and Kearney—pushed the lead to 15-8.

Sophomore Noah Basgaard closed out the game on the mound, securing the decisive victory for Stonehill.
