Eli Gardner, the Paul Finn '71 Head Football Coach, has announced the Stonehill captains for the upcoming 2026 season.
Defensive back
Jordan Irvine, quarterback
Jack O'Connell, offensive lineman
Joshua Troiano and linebacker
Ma'Hkai Wilson have been selected as captains of the Skyhawks.Â
"I am extremely proud of these four men for the ownership they have taken within our program and this recognition is an acknowledgment of that," Gardner said. "We have a terrific group of leadership currently, and our captains are a great representation of our program, a very well-deserved honor for all of them."
A native of Beverly, Mass., Irvine was named to NEC Fall Honor Roll after playing in nine games, including starting seven last fall. He recorded 36 tackles, forced two fumbles and had two pass breakups.
O'Connell, who hails from North Andover, Mass., was selected as the Coach Tom MacDonald MVP Award winner after starting all 12 games at quarterback a year ago.  His 1,875 passing yards were the eighth-most for a single-season in team history and his 15 TD passing tied for the 10th most in Stonehill history. O'Connell enters 2026 ranked ninth in team history with 2,555 career passing yards and 10th with 23 career passing touchdowns.
Troiano, a product of Seekonk, Mass., started all 12 games at offensive line. A 2025 Phil Steele All-NEC Preseason Team, Troiano was named to NEC Fall Honor Roll and selected to Phi Alpha Sigma.
Wilson, a member of Stonehill's defense from Waterbury, Conn., played in all 12 games, making 33 tackles on the season.
Stonehill opens the 2026 campaign at home against Bryant on Saturday, Aug. 29.
