Skyhawks Open NE-10 Tourney With 5-0 Victory

- The number one seeded Skyhawks opened NE-10
Tournament play with a convincing 5-0 win over the eight seed
Assumption Greyhounds on Tuesday afternoon.
Stonehill swept all three doubles matches, giving up just three
points in the process. The duo of Lindsey
Herchel (Hampden, Mass.) and Amy
Toegemann (Narragansett, R.I.) won 8-0 at No.1 doubles.
Samantha Dirks (Stony Brook, N.Y.) and
Leah White (East Walpole, Mass.) won No. 2 doubles
8-2 and in the final doubles match freshmen Sarah
Hickey (Lee, Mass.) and Haley McNeel
(Brielle, N.J.) won 8-1.
In singles play, Herchel beat Samantha Jean 6-0, 6-0 and Hickey
provided the final win of the day at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
The Skyhawks return to action on Thursday when they host the
four seed St. Michael's, with the match set for 3:00 p.m.
