Stonehill Cruises at Le Moyne, 9-0


Sophomore Meryl Lawrence notched her 30th and 31st combined career wins in NE-10 play at Le Moyne on Saturday.

Skyhawks claim third-straight shutout win

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (October 6, 2012) – Stonehill College, ranked fifth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional rankings, claimed its fifth shutout victory in six dual matches this season with another 9-0 triumph at Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 Conference women's tennis action at Gold's Gym this afternoon.

Freshman Bailey Paradiso (Birmingham, Mich./Marian) again led the double-winners for Stonehill with victories at No. 1 singles and doubles. She teamed up with senior Paige Frost (Brigantine, N.J./Holy Spirit) for an 8-2 doubles decision and then collected a 6-2, 6-0 singles win over senior Rebecca Black (Palmyra, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon). Frost was also among the five double-winners for the Skyhawks as she followed up the doubles win with an 8-0 sweep of sophomore Margaret LaFleur (Darien Center, N.Y./Attica) at No. 4 singles.

Freshman Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) combined with sophomore Meryl Lawrence (North Scituate, R.I./Mount Saint Charles Academy) for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles. Kump then added a 6-2, 6-2 victory over junior Kristine Kenny (Baytown, Texas/Ross. S. Sterling-Baytown) at No. 2 singles. Lawrence, who is now a combined 31-0 in NE-10 singles and doubles matches over her career, swept her way to a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over sophomore Dominique Canale (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) at No. 3 singles.

Freshman Kirsti Toegemann (Narragansett, R.I./The Lincoln School) rounded out the double-winners for Stonehill with an 8-0 decision at No. 5 singles after teaming up with sophomore Olivia Schneider (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) for an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles. Junior Kaitlyn Martin (Medway, Mass./Medway) also picked up a point for the Skyhawks with her 8-2 win at No. 6 singles.

Stonehill (6-0, 4-0 NE-10) returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts the University of New Haven for a Conference clash at 3 p.m. Le Moyne (1-4, 1-3 NE-10) hosts Southern New Hampshire University tomorrow at noon.
