Freshman Bailey Paradiso posted wins at No. 1 singles and doubles for the Skyhawks.

Skyhawks close out fall dual match schedule with fourth-straight shutout win

EASTON, Mass. (October 9, 2012) – Stonehill College, ranked fifth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional rankings, closed out its fall dual match schedule with a 9-0 victory over the University of New Haven in Northeast-10 Conference women's tennis action at Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex this afternoon.

Stonehill won its fourth-straight 9-0 decision in dual match play, marking the sixth shutout win in seven dual matches during the fall season. Freshmen Bailey Paradiso (Birmingham, Mich./Marian) and Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) again led the double-winners for Stonehill. Paradiso first teamed up with senior Paige Frost (Brigantine, N.J./Holy Spirit) for an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles and then claimed a 6-3, 6-3 decision over freshman Eva Rybka at No. 1 singles. Kump teamed up with sophomore Meryl Lawrence (North Scituate, R.I./Mount Saint Charles Academy) for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles and then registered a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles over freshman Samantha Nigri.

Lawrence fought through two tiebreakers to remain perfect in her career in NE-10 matches with her 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-2) triumph over sophomore Lindsey Conley at No. 3 singles to improve to 33-0 overall in singles and doubles play. Frost followed up her doubles win with a 6-1, 6-0 win over sophomore Martha Petzoldt at No. 4.

Freshman Kirsti Toegemann (Narragansett, R.I./The Lincoln School) rounded out the five Stonehill double-winners with her 6-0, 6-0 sweep of junior Nan Sirihorachai at No. 5 singles after teaming up with senior Chelsea Haedrich (Islip, N.Y./Islip) for an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles. Junior Kaitlyn Martin (Medway, Mass./Medway) also collected a point for the Skyhawks with her 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.

Stonehill (7-0, 5-0 NE-10) closes out its fall schedule this weekend when it participates in the New England Tennis Championships, hosted by Providence College, on Saturday and Sunday. New Haven (3-4, 3-3 NE-10) hosts Assumption College on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
