Women's Tennis Defeats Le Moyne, 6-3

Kump and Barbetta lead four double-winners for Skyhawks 

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (October 3, 2015) – Stonehill College, ranked sixth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Regional rankings, rode a 2-1 advantage after doubles play to a 6-3 victory over Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 Conference women's tennis action at Skytop Tennis Courts today.

Senior Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) and sophomore Victoria Barbetta (Wesley Chapel, Florida/Saddlebrook Prep) led four double-winners for Stonehill. The pair combined for an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles and then Kump followed that up with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Le Moyne sophomore Rithika Vajjiravelu (Chennai, India) at No. 3 singles to clinch the team win for the Skyhawks. Barbetta added a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles against junior Christina Perry (Endwell, New York/Seton Catholic).

Sophomore Emma Prinos (Foxboro, Massachusetts/Foxboro) and freshman Nicole Downey (Groveland, Massachusetts/Pentucket Regional) also earned singles and doubles wins for Stonehill. The teamed up to finish of a 2-1 edge for Stonehill following doubles play with their 8-4 win at No. 2. Prinos then picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles against senior Allison Jones (Utica, New York/Notre Dame), while Downey improved to 12-0 in singles play in her first collegiate season with a 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles against sophomore Autumn Hogan (Rochester, New York/Aquinas Institute).

Sophomore Amica Benoit-Limosani (Mont-Saint-Hillaire, Quebec/College Saint-Maurice) and freshman Tiffany Dun (Templestowe, Australia) combined to earn all three points for Le Moyne. They picked up an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles for the Dolphins and then Dun defeated Stonehill senior Bailey Paradiso (Birmingham, Michigan/Marian) at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2. Benoit-Limosani added a 7-5, 6-4 decision at No. 2 singles against senior Kristi Toegemann (Narragansett, Rhode Island/The Lincoln School).

Stonehill (7-2, 6-1 NE-10) is right back in action on Sunday when it visits College of Saint Rose for a Northeast-10 match at 1 p.m. The Skyhawks return home on Wednesday to host the University of New Haven at 3 p.m. Le Moyne (6-4, 5-4 NE-10) hosts Bentley University tomorrow at 11 a.m.
