EASTON, Mass. (April 29, 2023)- The Stonehill College baseball fell in the series finale to Merrimack College, 7-3 Saturday at Lou Gorman Field.

Standout Performances

Key Moments

  • After a scoreless first inning, Merrimack struck first in the top of the second highlighted by a two-run RBI double off the bat of Scott Elliot. The Warriors tacked on three more runs later in the third to go up five (5-0) but Stonehill had a chance in the bottom of the fourth to cut into the deficit.
  • In the bottom half of the fourth, Trey Ciulla-Hall started off the inning with a single and later in the frame, Chris Roberti got on base after taking advantage of a Merrimack fielding error. Despite having runners at the corners with two outs, the Warriors escaped the jam and held onto their five-run lead.
  • However, in the bottom of the sixth, the Skyhawks cut the Warriors lead to four after Blaine Lidsky ripped an RBI single to left that allowed Sam Parks to score after he drew a walk that led off the inning.
  • Merrimack went on to add two more insurance runs in the eighth and pushed its lead up to six (7-1) but in the ninth, the Purple and White made it a four-run game (7-3). Gaspar got Stonehill's first run of the inning when he drove an RBI double to lef that plated Jack Marshall after he singled in the prior at bat. Later in the inning, Dennis Folan drove in the other run with an RBI single up the middle. Even with the late rally, Merrimack held on for the series sweep.
